My gran taught me how to knit when I was just 5 years old. She cast on a few stitches and showed me the garter stitch. I remember getting quite excited when the shape changed as I knitted – I thought I was an amazing knitting because it started to look more like a skirt and of course that meant I was a garment creator. I was of course not dropping the stitches when knitted or I dropped too many stitches. Over the years I knitted a few jerseys, but knitting for me was always something that required a lot of concentration and it too forever to finish a project, so somewhere along the line, I just stopped.
My interest in knitting was renewed when crocheting became uncomfortable because of a sore arm. I needed to keep my hands busy, so I picked up my knitting…and now I am addicted. I thought I was an expert, I mean if you knew the knit and purl stitch, you must obviously be an accomplished knitter. Oh…but how little I knew. There was so much to learn…there is so much to learn and I am loving it.
As with most things I do, I love passing on the knowledge gained and I try to get others excited about it too, hence the start of creating my own patterns. As always, my patterns are generally focussed on learning a technique or skill. I have loads of ideas for sweaters, so I am learning more about grading for sizes, which is very exciting. For now, however, the focus is on smaller projects, which of course also means quicker finishes and a smaller work in progress pile. Come along on my journey of knitting discovery…
If you get stuck with any of my patterns, please contact me on e-mail or leave a comment here. Please also share pics of your completed project, I would love to see your creations. It inspires me to be creative. All my patterns are tested, however it’s very easy to overlook something, so please e-mail so that I can correct it.
