For as long as I can remember, I was always doing something crafty – knitting, embroidery or sewing. In the more recent years I discovered cross stitch and even more recently – crochet. I remember my mother crocheting doilies and her hands moving really fast – too fast for me to learn and too fast for her to teach me, so it was never something I aspired to do until recently…now I am a crochet addict. When I am not crocheting you may find me sewing, in the kitchen (not just looking for a snack), or starting a new project….I have many many starts, sometimes I may even have a finish. Crafting is my passion – and I try and balance it with my real job and spending time with my family, but not always succeeding in finding a balance
I am married to an amazing man who is always encouraging and motivating me and is often seen at yarn sales getting me even more stash – all the while complaining that my crafts are taking over our home. Roger is a gem and amidst these complaints he still says that he wants to see our house filled with things I create…and then there is my best creation of all….my little boy. Matthew is now three and a half and of course I am convinced he is gifted, but not when he is running of with my ball of yarn and unraveling something I created. So it it seems that I am actually pretty good at creating, as we welcomed our baby girl Atalia on 9 March 2018. I am super-excited that Matthew will get to experience the love and closeness of a sibling and we get to experience the joy of a daughter. I am already loving being mum to a little girl, and enjoying making all sorts of little goodies for her in shades of pink of course.
I have a full-time job as an Environmental Manager, working on large bulk water infrastructure projects like dams and pipelines. I am super proud of the Water Transfer System (dam, pumpstation and pipelines) we built. Go have a look at some pics here.
Every free moment I have to myself is spent on something crafty. I’m the first to admit that I am really bad at putting colours together, but I love designing patterns – very odd! but I like the feel and the look of various stitch combinations. Please visit my Ravelry store and have a look at some of my creations.
