Atalia’s Cross – a free crochet pattern for you!

Finally, I have managed to upload the pattern for Atalia’s Cross. This is a special project, as it is made for our baby girl who will be born around March 2018. When I found out we were expecting a little girl, I started planning all sorts of projects in various shades of pink, so yes, there will be a few more projects that will be coming soon for a little girl. Playing with these feminine shades and patterns is rather new to me, but I am having fun.
So the idea for a wall hanging literally came to me as I got out of bed one morning. A friend gave me a wooden cross with the word love on it made with string and which hangs on our bedroom wall. I really wanted to replicate this for Matthew’s room, as well as the nursery, with the words believe and hope or similar. As I looked at the cross, I could see it in little pink roses for the nursery and hence the idea for the pattern.
The name Atalia means “God is great”. The meaning is very significant to us, because we feel very blessed, and which is why this is called Atalia’s Cross.
This measures approximately 30 x 37cm (excluding the fringe) and is made in in Eco-Cotton by Nurturing Fibres. Please read through the notes in the pattern, tension is not really important as long as you ensure it’s consistent. I trick I learnt is after every row pull gently on both sides to create a nice flat finish. You will see my sides have a bit of a wobble. This is only because I am super impatient and didn’t take the time to adjust after every row – lesson learnt for the next project.
I hope you will enjoy creating your own Atalia’s Cross pattern and please do share pics of your completed projects with me. You can download the pattern from my Ravelry Store here.
Have lots of fun.
Until next time… Create, Craft and Inspire…
Best wishes Kogi
